JETRO – The Chinese impact on Africa
China is exerting an increasing influence in Africa as the emerging super power expands economically and politically. This influence is political, social and economic, as well as in significant business spheres, in particular energy. JETRO hired africapractice to conduct research and compile a report exploring the Chinese influence in Africa. We conducted desk research and primary interviews with donor organisations, business associations, businesses, and public sector representatives, including examining the relationships with local stakeholders and how the Chinese interact with local workers, communities and business partners to establish the impact, both of business and government, of China in Africa.
