POSITION: Associate Consultant/Consultant

REPORTS TO: Snr. Consultant

LOCATION: Lagos, Nigeria

Monitoring, Research & Analysis

  • Evaluate the effects of policies and laws on government, businesses and people
  • Advise clients based on market insights and expertise
  • Monitor current events, policy decisions and legislation changes
  • Stay up-to-date with, and forecast, political, economic and social trends and developments
  • Provide original, concise, well structured and detailed commercial and political research and analysis materials  that show an understanding of the clients requirements
  • Present research and analysis in well drafted reports, or by giving presentations and publishing articles
  • Develop Africa- and industry-specific  expertise and network through reading, research and attendance at relevant seminars, and establish contacts and sources to use in future research


Client Support:

  • Support the team in developing creative consulting solutions for clients facing specific challenges or opportunities in Nigeria
  • Draft briefing notes, research papers and a range of client deliverables
  • Assist in monitoring political, legal, socio-economic, commercial and regulatory developments in Nigeria and identify issues relevant to our key accounts that may require further analysis
  • Proactively brief account leads on key trends to help advise clients effectively
  • Understand where to acquire relevant information according to research requirement
  • Conduct research such as media audits and marketing intelligence to share with team
  • Use agreed account management templates to provide accurate records of account activity for internal and client use, including drafting contact reports and updating weekly / monthly activity reports
  • Manage own time competently and with little to no supervision


Business Development:

  • Provide background research and intelligence for pitches and meetings with potential clients
  • Participate in marketing events
  • Proactively seek opportunities to increase AP's visibility across the region

Bachelor's Degree


  • Minimum 3 years’ demonstrated professional experience
  • Must be eligible to work in Nigeria
  • Experience of operating within a commercial environment
  • Excellent verbal and written English
  • Sound reasoning and critical thinking
  • Good grasp of political and economic affairs
  • Ability to synthesise large amounts of information in a concise manner while extracting pertinent insights
  • Proficiency in MS Applications
  • Willingness to learn
