Job Title: Photographer

Location: Somalia

Duties and responsibilities:

 

  • Perform news related photography assignments;
  • Edit, distribute and archive newsroom photographs and project photographs;
  • Write captions to the photographs;
  • Perform special photography assignments as specified in Tasking Orders by the client;
  • Come up with story ideas on photography and pitch;
  • Audit and edit photos from the sectors and advise sector photographers on picture quality.
  • Train sector photographers and AMISOM staff members on photographic techniques when required.
  • Produce content for social media platforms of AMISOM, UNSOM and UNSOS and share real-time with Team Lead News and Team Lead Digital.

 

Competencies:

 

  • Good photographic knowledge and aesthetics;
  • Experience working in a news environment;
  • Ability to work long hours and under pressure;
  • Experience working in conflict zones and under tough conditions;
  • Good organizational skills and ability to plan his/her work with minimal supervision;
  • Ability to manage and distribute own work and that of other photographers;
  • Ability to write captions effectively in a clear and precise manner;
  • Ability to work effectively with a team;
  • Is motivated and shows resilience under difficult situations;
  • Is conscientious and efficient in meeting commitments, observing deadlines and achieving results;

 

Qualifications:

  • Should have undergone tertiary education.
  • Has a minimum of 3 years’ experience in professional photography
  • Has worked with an established media house or news agency
